At the end of this emotionally deflating afternoon, Busch Stadium looked exactly how most of us felt. All wet. Rain-soaked bunting sagged off the infield walls like used dishrags hanging over a kitchen sink. On the upper deck concourses, drenched Cardinals loyalists splashed and slogged their way through giant puddles, mushy piles of discarded peanut shells, mucky hotdog wrappers and empty beer cups.
