Former Cardinals farmhand Coco Crisp, who might look nice in the short term in centerfield at Busch Stadium and at the top of the St. Louis lineup, is on the open market now that he is no longer a component of a potential trade for Santana. The Cardinals could put Crisp in center and move Rick Ankiel back to right field where he can show off his cannon arm. The problem is that Crisp has two years on his contract ($4.75 in 2008 and $5.75 in 2009) and the Cardinals hope that top prospect Colby Rasmus will be patrolling center no later than opening day 2009.
