Memphis Redbirds Mailbag: Memphis Redbirds Spring Training Camp

I went to High School with Mike Parisi and saw him develop as a player years ago. He used to hit for power and was quite nasty as a batter. What are the odds this kid ends up as the next Rick Ankiel? Thanks, Moose New York

Hey Moose, Parisi did hit his first professional home run last year and also collected his first professional hit, so he's probably a ways off from becoming the next Rick Ankiel. Parisi went 6-for-37 with a double, a homer and four RBI for the 'Birds last summer. He'll look to improve his numbers at the plate and on the mound in 2008.

Do you happen to know who has been assigned to the Memphis Redbirds Spring Training camp? Thanks, Josh Mahomet, IL (That Would Be Me!)

Hey Josh, The majority, if not all, of the Redbirds Opening Day Roster was invited to big league camp. However, minor league camp starts on Sunday, March 2 with pitchers and catchers reporting. Full squad minor league workouts will begin later in the week.

Mike Parisi is scheduled to pitch Friday against the Mets. He'll follow Adam Wainwright to the mound in Port St. Lucie.
