Gordo Live Feb. 25, 2008

jrocke217: so larussa hasn't made up his mind yet on the cleanup hitter yet. say if gonzalez hits real well in camp, would he be considered the bat in the lineup to protect pujols instead of glaus, duncan, or ankiel?

Jeff Gordon: Juan Gone would have to have the BEST CAMP EVER to end up with a regular job and the No. 4 spot. He hasn't been a viable big league hitter in a long, long time.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

jrocke217: does mozeliak really even know what he wants? first he says their not looking at pitchers, next it's well we been in contact with weaver & colon, then they shoot down wells. what's the deal here, are they talking to free agents or are they gonna go with what they currently have. i would prefer to stay with what we got right now, giving the prospects a chance to crack the roster or rotation. but if we could snag a free agent for a cheap price(minor league deal) then i'd go for that also.

Jeff Gordon: Mozeliak might offer a minor league deal to the right veteran, depending on how spring training is progressing. Colon took a minor league deal in Boston. I assume Weaver would do the same here, since nobody else should want him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

jrocke217: with the recent signing of denes simonyi, does this open a door to maybe trade one of our prospect catchers in the system? maybe a bryan anderson, depending on how simonyi does this spring.

Jeff Gordon: Anderson is a nice hitter, but can he catch? If his defense doesn't improve dramatically, he won't stick here. And with Molina locked in, Anderson is more likely to be traded either way. I don't see him playing another position for this team.
