It’s been reported that Mitchell Report investigation cost MLB nearly $20 million. Well, MLB didn’t get much value for the dollar. Other than the neutron-bomb of a disclosure on Roger Clemens, the report was mostly a rehash of what was already known. It was a book report. It clipped a lot of newspaper stories and columns. It jumped on the back of other investigations for a free ride. (Especially the Kirk Radomski bust). There was lots of hearsay testimony and circumstantial evidence sprinkled in. Much of it is a 400-page gossip sheet. Good luck trying to discipline any of the named players.
