Indians Not Interested In Signing Barry Zito
The Tribe checked out former Cy Young Award winner Barry Zito, but I heard they are not interested in signing him. Zito was out of baseball in 2014, after a 5-11 record with a 5.74 ERA in 2013. Also at a workout was Matt Albers, and the Tribe did have an interest. He was with the Tribe in 2013. But Albers signed a minor-league deal with the White Sox.

Thirty years ago, Ned Yost saved a fan's life at Arlington Stadium, or at least he claimed to be a life-saver. It was an early lesson that taught him sometimes, you can defuse public pressure if you're willing to adjust.

Nationals Interested In Oliver Perez, Scott Downs, John Buck, & Others
The Nationals' top priority during the Winter Meetings is to improve their bullpen from the left side. They continue to have interest in several lefties -- Oliver Perez, J.P. Howell, Boone Logan and Scott Downs, according to a baseball source. All four lefties were successful in getting lefty hitters out. Howell was the best against lefty hitters, who had a .164 batting average against the southpaw.

Cardinals Eye Sweep Of Braves, League's Best Record
The back-and-forth National League Central race should gain a little more clarity over the next two weeks, when the Cardinals play 13 games against the Pirates and Reds, with all three teams jockeying for playoff seeding. A series sweep of the Braves, who entered the weekend with the best record in baseball, could prove to be quite the confidence boost ahead of that pivotal stretch.

Mets Plan To Hold Onto Marlon Bryd; Ervin Santana Has High Price To Trade
Let’s start with the “nothing doing” category on two New York teams. There is still nothing doing with the Mets, according to people familiar with their process. All along, it has been the same: Bobby Parnell is highly, highly unlikely to move, and Marlon Byrd is highly unlikely.
Erick Aybar, Howie Kendrick Are Potential Trade Options
