Dave Hoyt Pushes Forward With Baseball Field For Seacoast & USA Mavericks

The owner of the Seacoast Mavericks collegiate summer baseball team and USA Mavericks Baseball Club is abandoning plans for a baseball stadium and field complex in Brentwood in favor of a new location on the Seacoast.

Cardinals Scout Portsmouth High School's First Baseman Mike Montville

"He has the aptitude. He has the look on the baseball field," said Dave Hoyt, a St. Louis Cardinals scout who operates USA Training Centers and has coached Montville. "Everybody likes him. Everybody. But we all say, 'Go do that three-year thing in the ACC.'

"You go to the ACC, during the week you're facing high-(Single) A pitchers. On the weekend, it's high-Single A, Double-A and Triple-A guys you're facing. Show you can hit there."

Cardinals' Scout Dave Hoyt Comments On Chris Anderson & Unproven Left-Handed Pitchers

Both Dave Hoyt and former Red Sox hurler Bob Stanley, his advisers and colleagues at USA Training Centers in Newington, said it’s important for Anderson to go somewhere where he can log some innings and post some stats.

“Chris has every opportunity in the world to get someone’s attention,” said Hoyt, a St. Louis Cardinals scout who runs USA Training Centers, where Anderson works out. “Our organization had just released a bunch of guys. There just isn’t room right now for a left-handed pitcher that’s not proven.”

Bob Stanley Connects With Dave Hoyt On Pitching Program

Stanley connected with the owner of the facility, St. Louis Cardinals scout Dave Hoyt, and they have now begun work on what they feel will be a very successful program.
