It’s a short drive from his parents’ home to where Cardinals prospect Zack Thompson went Wednesday to get in his throws. Already there waiting when he arrived stood the net he planned to meet, and his only company was the dozens of well-worn and scuffed baseballs he stuffed into a backpack.
