Diowill Burgos tore through the DSL in the first month of the season and led in many offensive categories, later earning a promotion.  Gustavo Rodriguez, Claudio Ramirez, and Hansel Otamendi hit real well at the plate.  Darlyn Del Villar had no trouble driving in runs and Sander Mora led the teams in runs scored.

With Burgos out of the pictu

With Burgos out of the picture, Fernando Diaz became the slugger for the month of July.  Luis Andujar, Brandon Hernandez, Albert Inoa, Smith Vargas, Jose Zapata, and Luis Rodriguez all stepped up during this period also.  Mora continued to rack up walks and runs.  Del Villar, G.Rodriguez, and Otamendi dived offensively.

Darlin Moquete, who didn’t receive much play in the earlier parts of the season, exploded in the final month.  Mora, Andujar, and Diaz all improved at the plate.  Inoa and Ramirez continues steady paths from the previous month.  Fernando Brazoban and Elvin DeJesus both stepped up during the month of August.

Several players deserve consideration for the 2019 Dominican Summer League Player of the Year.  Sander Mora, Albert Inoa, Claudio Ramirez, Fernando Diaz, and Darlin Moquete all had a hand in their respective teams winning  But the one person that sticks out the most is Luis Andujar, who led both teams in hits, doubles, RBIs, and was second in OBP, SLG, and AVG.  Andujar is my personal choice for the award this season.
