Cardinals Claimed Merandy Gonzalez Off Waivers From Giants & Optioned Him To Double-A Springfield; Brett Cecil Was Transferred From Ten-Day To 60-Day Injured List

The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have claimed RHP Merandy (murr-ANN-dee) González off waivers from the San Francisco Giants, added him to the 40-man roster and have optioned him to Double-A Springfield. Left-handed pitcher Brett Cecil was transferred from the 10-day to the 60-day injured list.
