Yankees may Hold Off Until September To Activate Matt Holliday; Mariners Concerned Where Tyler O'Neill Would Fit

Matt Holliday is close to ready in Tampa and would prefer to be with the big club, but it appears the team may wait until rosters expand Sept. 1 to call him up. Team higher-ups want to make sure he’s ready. In the meantime, Tampa Yankees players are happy to have him around — he recently took the Class A team out to Ocean Prime in Tampa. Holliday got off to a great start but went into a serious tailspin after developing a virus that sapped his strength. The Yankees’ offense hasn’t been as good in the second half, due to Aaron Judge’s slump and a variety of other factors, including injuries. But Holliday will get his chance next month, at the latest.
