Restricted to spending Monday merely as observers while 75 players were selected on Day 1 of the MLB Draft, the Cardinals joined in on Tuesday by making their first eight selections from rounds 3-10.

The Cardinals tried to treat Day 1 of the Major League Baseball draft on Monday, a day in which they had no picks in the first two rounds because of penalties stemming from the Houston Astros espionage case, as an ordinary day. They put on their best clothes, sat in the draft room, pretended they had a pick in the 20s, and took part in what scouting director Randy Flores called “role playing.”
