Not everyone that watches, reads or examines baseball is really into math. Even those that are really into math sometimes privately tire of the way math can be applied to the game. It’s actually possible, in today’s age of quantifying everything, to get pretty burnt out on it. Anyone who has every tried to find a way to quantify a statistical anomaly will understand this well. Sometimes, there’s no explanation for the difference between what we see with our eyes and what’s actually true.
