Greg Holland Having Major Impact For Rockies

This past off season, the Rockies signed Greg Holland to an incentive-heavy contract with a $7 million base salary for 2017. There were a lot of mixed reactions around baseball, but it was obvious the Rockies were banking on him returning to his pre-Tommy John self on the mound. As the season got closer to starting, the general consensus from the Rockies was that he would be the closer to begin the year, which again drew mixed reactions. He hadn’t pitched in a major league game since 2015; was he ready to jump right back into the high-leverage role of being a closing pitcher? I sure didn’t think so, but he has silenced any doubters, including myself, so far this season.
