Eric Gagne made his big-league debut Sept. 7, 1999 at the age of 23, throwing six shutout innings for the Los Angeles Dodgers in a 2-1 loss to the Florida Marlins. Nearly two decades, 187 saves, a Cy Young Award, multiple injuries, an admission of performance-enhancing substance use and several years of rest later, the right-hander is once again in Miami, this time representing Canada at the World Baseball Classic at age 41, a first step, he hopes, toward a longer-term return to the game.
