I am riding and walking around here on Tuesday, doing that happily even in late-summer heat in one of the capitals of American sports, where the Cardinals are more important than they have ever been, if such a thing is even possible in St. Louis, Mo. I go past the new ballpark, something to see even from the outside, but am immediately flooded with old memories about the old one, from back in the 1980s, from a couple of seven-game World Series, and regular-season series between the Mets and the Cardinals that felt like heavyweight championship fights.
