Peoria Team Awards: Eliezer Alvarez Named MVP, Sandy Alcantara Named Pitcher Of Year, & Jose Godoy Received Ryne Sandberg Award

The Chiefs staged their annual internal team awards in an onfield ceremony before the game.

Peoria All-Star second baseman Eli Alvarez was named team MVP. He headed into Friday's game with a nine-game hitting streak and was batting .316 with a league-high 35 stolen bases.

Chiefs righty starter Sandy Alcantara, promoted to high-A Palm Beach earlier this season. was named Pitcher of the Year.

Catcher Jose Godoy was named to the prestigious Ryne Sandberg award, which goes to the player who displays work ethic, dedication to the team, community and sport.
