A consistent bench man for much of the season, versatile infielder Greg Garcia suddenly dropped into a nothing-for-31 abyss in the first half of August, dropping his average into the .230s. But now Garcia is on high ground again, having reached base in his last eight plate appearances on five hits and three walks and has raised his average some 40 points, to .275 after three walks and a hit on Saturday.
