Cardinals shortstop Aledmys Diaz didn’t want to make any public gestures Tuesday night as he returned to the lineup for the first time since Marlins ace Jose Fernandez died. He merely wanted to honor his childhood friend’s memory by appreciating every opportunity he had to play the game they both fell in love with together as boys in the Macuca barrio in Santa Clara, Cuba.
