Matt Carpenter is Carp, of course, but has he transcended baseball's leadoff position so well that he deserves a nickname that he doesn't have to share with another recent Cards star? Twitter has oft-suggested Marp, which sounds like the name of an obscure gourd. But at least with this, we can call him “Marpy Marp,” which is funky.
