I appreciate John Mozeliak’s pragmatic, disciplined approach to making deals. Which isn’t to say that Mozeliak is batting .1000 in his trades; no GM does. And Mozeliak isn’t always conservative, either. He isn’t afraid to perform a shake-up that shocks his own roster; all you need to do is look at the trade deadline deals that sent Colby Rasmus to Toronto for bullpen and rotation help in 2011 and the whopper that shipped Allen Craig and Joe Kelly to Boston for starter John Lackey in 2014. But Mozeliak isn’t impulsive or whimsical.
