Aledmys Diaz Has Staying Power

When Aledmys Diaz batted 17 points better than Ted Williams’ finest season in his first month in the big leagues, it’s probably fair to say that most people around baseball figured he couldn’t keep it up. When Diaz slugged 116 points better than Barry Bonds’ career mark in his first month in the big leagues, most people undoubtedly thought that it wouldn’t last.

It was more than a home run, it was a moment–a rising, line drive off the bat of Aldemys Diaz that ricocheted off the “fair” pole for a 3-run homer. His 426ft shot tied the game 4-4 as his St. Louis Cardinals went on to beat San Francisco 7-4 on Saturday night.
