Jeremy Hazelbaker, who got his first major-league hit, a pinch hit double on Tuesday, earned his first major-league start Wednesday night when Cardinals manager Mike Matheny wrote him in as the center fielder, hitting eighth, against Pittsburgh righthander Juan Nicasio, with cleanup man Randal Grichuk sitting down after starting the season one for nine with five strikeouts.
