Daniel Descalso Liability At The Plate For Rockies

When the Rockies signed Descalso as a free agent to a two-year contract worth $3.6 million, manager Walt Weiss praised Descalso's playoff pedigree with the Cardinals — and his versatility. Descalso did fine in the field, playing third base, shortstop, second base and even a little bit at first base. But he was a liability at the plate, hitting .203 with an on-base percentage of .283. He hit .175 with runners in scoring position.
