The NL race for the Central championship was going along smoothly Monday night. The Cubs and Pirates were winning, while the Cardinals were losing 1-0. St. Louis scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, however, to beat the Reds 2-1. The Pirates and Cubs kept pace, but the probability of a three-way tie dropped to .0013, just a bit off yesterday’s number. The most likely number of wins for a tie is now 98:
