Matt Holliday Aims For Quick Healing; Carlos Martinez Feedback; Hall Of Fame Plans

Injured, discouraged and frustrated yet again by a right quadriceps tear, Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday said Friday he suspected he would be playing “soon.” But that is all relative to how quickly Holliday, sidelined after an unfortunate voyage to first base Wednesday, can heal.

Manager Mike Matheny said he had a couple of conversations with young righthander Carlos Martinez and said he probably would have another after Martinez had lost control of his emotions to the point on Thursday where, in a fashion, he flashed the “We’re No. 1” sign to the Colorado dugout.
