Pitchers Of The Week For Period Ending May 10, 2015: Thomas Lee - Texas League & Austin Gomber - Midwest League

Texas League
Thomas Lee, Springfield
(1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 G, 1 GS, 8 2/3 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 HR, 2 HBP, 2 BB, 5 K) Lee made only one start last week, and he certainly made it count as evidenced by the pitching line above. What isn't shown is how much Lee needed a performance like the one he had Friday at Arkansas. The 25-year-old right-hander had allowed a combined 11 earned runs over 8 2/3 innings in his previous two starts and has given up at least six earned runs in four of his six outings this year. An undrafted free agent out of Sonoma (California) State, Lee is 2-2 with a 6.68 ERA in his first six starts in the Texas League.

Midwest League
Austin Gomber, Peoria
(1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 G, 1 GS, 8 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 HR, 0 HBP, 0 BB, 7 K) A 2014 fourth-rounder out of Florida Atlantic University, Gomber hurled his first scoreless outing at a full-season level Tuesday at Clinton. Outside of an April 22 outing during which he gave up six runs on four hits (three homers) in 5 2/3 frames, the 21-year-old southpaw has been relatively solid in his introduction to the Midwest League, going 2-3 with a 3.52 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 28 strikeouts and only five walks in 30 2/3 frames thus far.
