Matt Holliday Reaches On-Base Milestone, Calls It 'Cool'

Cardinals reliever Mitch Harris was in the bullpen when teammate Matt Holliday stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning. He and the other bullpen members heard what sounded like a base hit, but they didn’t bat an eye.

With a fifth-inning single Wednesday night, Matt Holliday grabbed a piece of National League history. The left fielder has reached base in 43 straight games to start the season, taking sole possession of the NL record and passing Albert Pujols in the Cardinal record books.
