2015 Cardinals Hall Of Fame Induction Class Announced

In a television special on FOX Sports Midwest this evening, the St. Louis Cardinals announced that Ted Simmons, Bob Forsch, Curt Flood and George Kissell will be inducted into the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame presented by Edward Jones on Saturday, August 15th at FOX Sports Midwest Live! in Ballpark Village. This is the second induction class since the team dedicated the Cardinals Hall of Fame with an Inaugural Class on Opening Day in St. Louis in 2014. The 2015 Induction Class was selected via a formal process which includes fans, baseball experts and the team.

Until Yadier Molina's career is over, and perhaps even when it is, Ted Simmons very likely is the Cardinals' greatest catcher of all time. Cardinals fans have validated that theory by voting Simmons into the second class of the Cardinals' Hall of Fame, which was announced Monday night.

One was a sturdy rock behind the plate. One was a fixture in the starting rotation. One was a defensive wizard in center field. One was a lifelong Cardinal.

Nobody in franchise history has caught more games (1564) for the St. Louis Cardinals than Ted Simmons. His total of hits (1704), runs batted in (929), and home runs (172) still remain the best for a catcher in franchise history. For those reasons and so many more, Simmons has been voted by fans to be part of the 2015 St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame class.
