Max Scherzer played catch on Sunday at Marlins Park, and the Nationals right-hander said his right thumb is still sore. After Sunday's 6-2 loss to the Marlins, manager Matt Williams indicated that Scherzer would not take his next turn in the rotation Tuesday.
