Since 2009, Major League Baseball has honored the date of April 15th as Jackie Robinson Day. The day celebrates the annivesary of Robinson signing his first professional contract with Branch Rickey and the Brooklyn Dodgers. This year marks the 70th anniversary of what was the first step toward his eventual breaking of the color barrier on April 15, 1947.
