Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright will make his first start of the spring, though it will happen in the morning and on a back field and against minor-leaguers, some of whom may even swing.

It's taken two-and-a-half weeks of games and the Cardinals finally are running veteran John Lackey onto the mound in a game. The 36-year old has put himself behind on his own accord so he can limit the amount of throwing he does in spring training, thus saving more innings for the regular season. At this point in Lackey's career he doesn't need to worry about proving himself in March.

A few days ago, Adam Wainwright said “what I get is what I get” when it came to the four Grapefruit League starts he ideally prefers to ready himself for the regular season. As it turns, out his wish should still come true.
