A perennially strong system, the Cardinals don’t have the impact talent at the top that they typically have to offer, but maintain their standard depth. At every level they feature future major leaguers, with prospects like Stephen Piscotty and Marco Gonzales ready when needed, while youngsters Alexander Reyes and Magnueris Sierra simmer lower in the minors. Once again, the Cardinals are able to find the balance between retaining major-league veterans and replacing them with young, cheap talent from within their own system, continuing their run as one of the best organizations in the game, even during their down years.
