The Cardinals will renovate and upgrade a baseball field in Oscar Taveras’ hometown of Sosua, Dominican Republic, so that, in the words of one official, the youths there can have a place to dream of reaching the majors as Taveras did.

The first time Cardinals chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. remembers meeting his counterpart from the St. Louis Rams, owner Stan Kroenke, was several years ago in Arizona when DeWitt served on a panel reviewing the bids to purchase the Los Angeles Dodgers.
