After being selected in the 9th round of the MLB Draft and a successful stint in short-season State College in 2013, Nick Petree followed up in 2014 by playing across 3 levels in the Cardinals organization. Petree only made one start – on the last day of the season – in Double-A Springfield, but went a combined 8-5 in 21 starts in Peoria and Palm Beach. He logged 124.1 innings between High-A and Low-A, posting a 2..24 ERA with a 1.17 WHIP and a 7.53 K/9. Petree eventually climbed to N0. 17 on MLB.com’s Top 20 Cardinals Prospect.
