Cubs Sign Jason Motte To One-Year Deal

A catcher when the Cardinals drafted him and a closer when the Cardinals needed him, Jason Motte is the latest to join the refurbishment on the North Side as he agreed to a deal with the Chicago Cubs, according to reports out of Chicago.

St. Louis Cardinals fans will get to see a lot of Jason Motte in 2015–it just won’t be with the birds on the bat. According to WSCR’s Bruce Levine, the reliever has agreed to a one-year contract with the Chicago Cubs worth $4.5 million plus incentives that could raise the value to $7 million.
