Alex Avila, C, Tigers — As we reported last week, the Tigers are listening to trade proposals on Avila. The lefthanded-hitting backstop has been beaten up over the past couple of years with foul balls that have caused concussions. His offense has also diminished to the point where he may not be a good choice as a starter, but teams like the Red Sox, Braves, and Cardinals could consider him as a backup. He’s also a great chemistry guy in the clubhouse. The only drawback is a $5.4 million team option, but the Tigers could defray that cost.
