Last year, the Minnesota Twins signed Phil Hughes to a contract hoping that having him pitch every fifth day in the spacious Target Field would help to lower his ERA and become respectable again. He not only became respectable, but he became the team’s ace. By signing Justin Masterson, who is coming off a career worst season, they have a chance to strike gold again.
