Kolten Wong Takes Third Place In National League Rookie Of The Year Vote

Trying to become the first Cardinals player to win National League Rookie of the Year honors since Albert Pujols in 2001, Kolten Wong had to settle for third in the National League voting behind winner Jacob deGrom and runner-up Billy Hamilton.

The Baseball Writers’ Association of America (BBWAA) announced New York Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom as the winner of the 2014 National League Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year award. Votes were scored on a 5-3-1 system and deGrom received 26 of 30 first place votes and 142 points. Cincinnati’s Billy Hamilton garnering the other four votes and 23 second place tallies to finish with 92 points in second. St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Kolten Wong, received one second place vote and 11 for where he finished in third place with 14 points.
