To say history exists between the Cardinals and the Los Angeles Dodgers is ridiculous understatement. It seeps from both franchises’ foundation. It represents much of the National League’s mortar, dating back to when the senior and junior circuits were separate, distinct animals. Anyone who received at least a Gentleman’s C in the game’s history knows Branch Rickey did both proud, the Cardinals by perfecting the farm system, the Dodgers by discarding the color line.
