I'll be honest: Even though I was at Game 5 of the World Series and wrote about it, I didn't watch and absorb what was happening in front of me. Really, I just stared at it. In the early innings, we all learned that Oscar Taveras, the Cardinals' lavishly talented wunderkind, had died in a car crash along with his girlfriend at the age of 22. As I write those words, I'm still not able to absorb them.
