A year ago this weekend, Jhonny Peralta sat at his home in the Dominican Republic, exiled from the majors and left to watch a pennant race he could not be a part of on his phone, when the signal was agreeable. Suspended 50 games by Major League Baseball for using a banned substance, Peralta worked out, kept tabs on his Detroit Tigers teammates and waited for a call he didn’t know if or when it would come.
