Over the last year or so, Jason Motte has focused on a one-day-at-a-time approach in dealing both with his recovery from Tommy John surgery and in helping his many friends and their families with the fight against cancer. So as he took the mound in the 7th inning of Sunday’s regular season home finale, the reliever was not thinking it could be his final appearance as a St. Louis Cardinal.
