Saying only that it was “too early to make that statement” or “we’ll see”, St. Louis Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny was non-committal about what was next for both Justin Masterson and Tyler Lyons following the team’s 5-1 loss to Chicago on Saturday. Masterson allowed five runs–including 3 home runs, in 4.1 innings pitched. Lyons finished the game allowing only one hit and striking out a career best eight hitters in his 4.2 innings of work.
