The last time the Cardinals sent Shelby Miller to the bullpen, he didn’t come out for six months. Much of that time, to be sure, was in the offseason. But the Cardinals’ 15-game winner, who finished third in the National League Rookie of the Year balloting last year to Jose Fernandez and Yasiel Puig, spent the entire 2013 postseason in the bullpen and pitched just one inning in October.
