Oscar Taveras will be starting in right field tonight for the St. Louis Cardinals as they finish the two-game series against Tampa.

Though it’s getting harder to ignore Lance Lynn, there are still plenty who don’t consider him among the league’s best. His 11 wins trail only four pitchers in all of baseball. He’s in the top 20 in the NL for ERA, top 25 for innings pitched and top 15 for strikeouts. He’s one of only six pitchers to make at least 20 starts and win 11 or more in the past three seasons. The others are Adam Wainwright, Max Scherzer, Zack Greinke, Madison Bumgarner and Felix Hernandez.

The Cardinals close out their five-game homestand tonight and need a win in order to ensure it is a winning one. The club has fallen two games behind the Brewers, who finished off a sweep of the Reds today.
