Cardinals Starting Lineup 5-15-14

The weather is much improved from yesterday, though I don’t think a postponement on Wednesday was the worst outcome for the Cardinals. Their bullpen was weary (11 innings over the previous two days) and the club would have been playing down a man because of an illness to Kolten Wong.

Cardinals chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. has been picked to chair a new seven-member committee to facilitate the process of selecting a new baseball commissioner. The commissioner's office and executive council announced the formation of the committee on Thursday. Selig announced last September his plans to retire upon the completion of his current term, which runs through January 24, 2015.

Kolten Wong is back in the clubhouse after a bout with stomach illness, but he’ll have to wait a day before being in the starting lineup.

Mark Ellis will start at second base this afternoon as after dealing with a sickness that kept him bed for 20 hours, Mike Matheny is going to make sure that Kolten Wong is fully recovered before putting the rookie back in the starting lineup.
