It was nearly two years ago, on Memorial Day 2012, that pitcher Lance Lynn got a weak grounder from Atlanta’s Dan Uggla and turned to dutifully cover first base for what he figured would be a routine final out of the inning. He stopped as he left the mound, befuddled by what he saw.
