Peter Bourjos and Jon Jay have been battling for playing time in center field. Neither is a complete player: Bourjos specializes in defense, and Jay is primarily a hitter. They would seem to offer an ideal platoon situation for Mike Matheny, except that Bourjos has a reverse platoon split, hitting righties better than lefties.
