When the umpires strangely chose to resume an exhibition game between the Cardinals and Miami Marlins last Tuesday after rain and faulty tarpaulin placement had made parts of the field less than ideal, Cardinals manager Mike Matheny quickly lifted most of his regulars.

Cardinals righthander Adam Wainwright officially will be making the third opening day start of his career today, although his first one of four was rained out before the fifth inning with the Cardinals holding a huge lead over the Colorado Rockies in 2008.
